Sur-Ron speed depends on the model, year and approved configuration. An off-road Light Bee X, a restricted road-approved Light Bee L1E and an Ultra Bee HP are different motorcycles. A single “Sur-Ron top speed” can easily describe the wrong one.
| Model | Claimed maximum | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Hyper Bee 8kW MY26 | 40mph | Hyper Bee |
| Light Bee X 10kW MY26 | 50mph | Light Bee X |
| Light Bee L1E 10kW MY26 | 28mph in road configuration | Light Bee L1E |
| Ultra Bee HP X 24.5kW MY26 | 59mph | Ultra Bee HP X |
| Light Bee 2 X | 56mph | Light Bee 2 X |
These are importer claims, not our measured speeds. Do not apply them to earlier model years or modified bikes. A speedometer reading, a GPS measurement and a manufacturer specification are different kinds of evidence.
Why the model year matters
The Light Bee name spans different battery and power specifications. The MY26 Light Bee X and the Light Bee 2 are separate current listings, so “2026 LBX” is not enough information to compare an advert. Ask for the complete model name, year, battery identification and standard specification.
What affects the speed you actually see?
Rider load, gradient, wind, surface, charge level, tyres and configuration all matter. Top speed alone tells you little about low-speed control, suspension or repeated acceleration. Choose a motorcycle for its intended terrain and fit, rather than the largest number in a comparison table.
Road speed and off-road capability
Public-road use requires the correct vehicle approval, registration, insurance, compliant condition and rider entitlement. The off-road X specification is not made road legal by using a low-power setting. Removing a road model’s restriction can alter its approved status and insurance position. Check the Sur-Ron legality guide before buying.
What to compare next
Read Sur-Ron range alongside speed. For smaller and larger platforms, see Light Bee vs Ultra Bee. The Hyper Bee guide also explains rider-fit and load considerations.
