Light Bee 2

The short answer

The 2026 Light Bee X and the new Light Bee 2 are not the same bike. The Light Bee X is the lighter and more affordable 10kW option, while the Light Bee 2 moves to 24kW, a 78.54V 45Ah battery and much more advanced rider electronics.

Choose the Light Bee X if you want the traditional lightweight Sur-Ron experience at a lower price and want a bike now. Choose the Light Bee 2 if you want substantially more factory performance and are comfortable with MotoEbikes' current estimated UK price of approximately £4,250.

24kW vs 10kW: how big is the performance difference?

10kW
Light Bee X
VS
24kW
Light Bee 2

The Light Bee 2 produces 2.4 times the stated peak power of the MY26 Light Bee X. But the buying decision should not be based on peak power alone. The Light Bee X remains lighter at 59kg and retains the familiar lightweight riding character that made the LBX popular. The Light Bee 2 adds just 6kg while introducing much more power, a larger battery and a substantially more advanced electronics package.

Which one is lighter?

59KG
Light Bee X
VS
65KG
Light Bee 2

The Light Bee 2 gains only around 6kg despite the larger battery and significantly higher maximum power. The Light Bee X remains the lighter machine and may still appeal more strongly to riders who prioritise agility, simplicity and the classic Light Bee feel. The Light Bee 2 is aimed at riders who are willing to accept a modest increase in weight for considerably more factory performance.

Light Bee 2 has much more rider technology

This is not simply an LBX with more power.

Were you planning to modify your Light Bee X?

Many Sur-Ron owners buy an LBX and later upgrade the controller, battery, motor, brakes and suspension. That can make the initial £3,295 purchase price misleading when comparing the two bikes. If you know before buying that you want substantially more power, a larger battery and more advanced electronics, the Light Bee 2 deserves serious consideration before you start upgrading an LBX.

Light Bee 2 route

For riders planning extensive upgrades, the price gap can narrow quickly.

Is the Light Bee 2 worth approximately £955 more?

What the extra money currently gets you

  • 24kW rather than 10kW peak power
  • 410Nm rather than 295Nm stated wheel torque
  • 3.53kWh battery
  • Larger 45Ah battery capacity
  • SRTC traction control
  • More sophisticated rider electronics
  • New-generation powertrain
  • Approx. 6kg additional weight

For riders who simply want a light, fun Sur-Ron, the Light Bee X remains excellent value. For riders who know they want more power and expect to modify the standard LBX significantly, the Light Bee 2 may represent better long-term value despite the higher purchase price.

The £4,250 Light Bee 2 figure is MotoEbikes' current UK estimate. The final official UK retail price has not yet been confirmed by Sur-Ron UK.
