Get an insurance quote for the exact Stark VARG before committing to a road-use purchase. Give the insurer the correct EX or SM variant, registration details when available, approved vehicle information, your intended use and any modifications. A quote for a similarly named bike is not confirmation of cover for yours.
Road cover and motocross cover answer different questions
For UK road use, GOV.UK states that motor insurance is required and third-party cover is the legal minimum. Road homologation does not supply insurance, and an insurance quote does not establish that a rider has the correct licence.
The MX 1.2 is the motocross model. If you want cover for an off-road bike, describe theft at home, transport, storage at a venue and the actual riding activity separately. Do not assume a road policy covers racing or a theft policy covers damage while riding. Ask the provider to identify precisely what its policy includes.
Information to have ready
| Information | What to provide |
|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Stark Future VARG, exact EX or SM model, 60HP or 80HP Alpha, model year and registration or vehicle identification details. |
| Approved specification | Supplier documentation for vehicle category and continuous rated power; disclose peak output accurately if asked. |
| Rider | Licence and training details, experience and other facts requested by the insurer. |
| Use | Social riding, commuting, business use or other intended activity, with realistic annual mileage. |
| Storage and security | Actual overnight location and the security devices you will use. |
| Changes | Wheels, tyres, brakes, controls, performance changes and accessories as requested. |
| Value and equipment | Purchase price, optional equipment, charger and any accessories for which you want cover. |
What if the model is missing from a comparison site?
Do not select a different model just to continue. Contact the provider or a broker and ask for the exact motorcycle to be assessed. Offer the supplying dealer’s specification and approval documents. Ask for the final policy schedule to identify the bike and agreed details correctly.
GOV.UK links to the British Insurance Brokers’ Association as a route to broker help. That is a way to make an enquiry, not a guarantee that a particular insurer will accept a Stark or offer a particular price. We do not publish an “average Stark premium” without a clear, comparable dataset.
Peak power, continuous power and licence details
Stark’s 60HP and 80HP labels describe advertised peak performance. The approved vehicle documents also contain information relevant to classification. Give the insurer the requested information accurately; do not substitute a lower number to obtain a cheaper quote.
Check your rider entitlement against the precise approved motorcycle. Our EX road-use guide explains the documents and Great Britain licence checks; use nidirect for Northern Ireland guidance.
Questions about the battery, charger and theft
- Is the battery included as part of the insured motorcycle for the events covered by this policy?
- How are accidental damage, theft, electrical failure and gradual deterioration treated? Ask about each rather than assuming one answer covers all four.
- Is a charger covered at home, away from home and during transport? Are limits or excesses different?
- What security conditions apply overnight and when parked elsewhere?
- How is a total loss valued, and what excess would apply?
- Are recovery, specialist transport and repair arrangements included or optional?
Insurance, a manufacturer warranty and a service agreement are separate contracts. Ask for the relevant wording where their scope is unclear. A battery warranty is not automatically theft cover, and a comprehensive policy should not be assumed to cover normal loss of capacity.
Green lanes, commuting and track days
Describe the actual activity rather than relying on a broad phrase such as “off-road”. A legal unsurfaced road, a private practice area, a timed race and a supermoto track day raise different questions for a provider. Ask whether each intended activity is covered and retain the written answer.
If commuting is part of the plan, disclose it when obtaining the quote. Check what happens if your storage address, annual mileage, equipment or use changes. Make changes through the provider before relying on the policy for the new circumstances.
A short enquiry you can adapt
“I am considering a Stark VARG [exact model, year and variant]. The dealer can supply its approval documents. I will use it for [activities] and keep it at [actual storage arrangement]. The bike has [modifications/accessories]. Can you quote for this exact motorcycle and confirm the cover, exclusions, security requirements, excess and treatment of its battery and charger?”
Before collecting the bike
Check the schedule, registration or identification details, effective start time and the cover you requested. Resolve any discrepancy with the provider. Ask MotoEbikes for the relevant vehicle details when preparing your enquiry; acceptance and policy terms remain the insurer’s decision.
