Choosing the Right First Electric Bike
Kids electric bikes give younger riders a way to start developing basic throttle control, braking and riding confidence on a bike designed around their size. Our collection focuses on junior electric dirt bikes and first electric bikes intended for supervised off-road riding, from smaller beginner models through to larger bikes for children ready for their next step.
Look beyond age alone. Compare the seat height, wheel size, speed settings, rider experience and physical fit of each bike. For example, Talaria positions its JR-12 for ages 4–6 and its larger JR-16 for ages 6–9, but age guidance should be treated as a starting point rather than a substitute for checking whether the bike physically suits the individual child.

Choosing a model
Which model is best for a new rider?+
Start with fit and control rather than maximum power. Consider the child's age, height, experience, seat height, wheel size and available speed settings. A bike that allows a young rider to build confidence gradually is usually more appropriate than simply choosing the fastest model.
Road legal and licence
Are these bikes road legal in the UK?+
Do not assume that a kids electric bike is road legal. Junior off-road bikes such as the Talaria JR series are intended for off-road/private-land riding. Check the individual product's road-legal status before purchase and never use an off-road model on public roads.
What licence do I need?+
The junior bikes in this collection are intended for supervised off-road/private-land use unless a product page specifically states otherwise. They are not being sold as children's public-road motorcycles, so road licence categories should not be assumed to apply.
