What is the Sur-Ron Light Bee 2?

The Light Bee 2 is Sur-Ron's next-generation lightweight performance electric motorcycle, launching in the UK from Monday 14 September 2026. It replaces the concept behind the original Light Bee with a considerably more powerful platform: a 24kW peak motor and a larger 78.54V 45Ah, 3.53kWh battery, paired with a more sophisticated electronic rider-assistance suite.

It launches in two distinct versions: the Light Bee 2 X, an off-road motorcycle, and the Light Bee 2 L3e, a road-homologated version. Both share the same core powertrain and battery.

24kW performance

Both versions of the Light Bee 2 share the same 24kW peak power output, a substantial step up from earlier Light Bee generations. The powertrain is shared across the X and L3e — the two versions differ in road homologation and kerb weight, not in peak output.

78.54V 45Ah battery

Both versions use the same 78.54V 45Ah battery, with an energy capacity of approximately 3.53kWh. This is the largest battery fitted to a production Light Bee to date.

Range

Sur-Ron claims up to 108km / 67.1 miles at a constant 40km/h under controlled conditions. Real-world range will vary with rider weight, terrain, speed, temperature and riding style, and should not be treated as a guaranteed real-world figure.

Top speed and acceleration

Both versions share a manufacturer-claimed top speed of up to 90km/h, approximately 56mph. MotoEbikes will publish independent acceleration figures once UK demonstrator units are available.

Traction control and rider electronics

The Light Bee 2 platform carries an expanded rider-electronics suite over previous Light Bee generations, including traction control and adjustable rider modes. MotoEbikes will detail the full electronics package as UK-spec documentation is confirmed.

Chassis and suspension

The Light Bee 2 uses an updated chassis to carry the larger battery and higher-output motor. Full suspension and chassis specification will be added to this guide as UK technical documentation is confirmed.

Road legality

The Light Bee 2 X is an off-road motorcycle. The Light Bee 2 L3e is the road-homologated version, intended for on-road registration and use. Exact UK licence requirement is subject to final homologation classification.

Who should buy the Light Bee 2 X

Choose the Light Bee 2 X if you intend to ride off-road, on private land or on trails, and don't need the bike registered for public roads.

Who should buy the Light Bee 2 L3e

Choose the Light Bee 2 L3e if you want to ride on public roads. It carries the same 24kW powertrain and battery as the X, in a road-homologated form.

Light Bee 2 vs current Light Bee X

The current MY26 Light Bee X remains a lighter, lower-power model. The Light Bee 2 range moves to 24kW peak power and a larger 3.53kWh battery, positioning it as a distinct, higher-performance step up from the existing Light Bee X.

Light Bee 2 vs Ultra Bee
